Job Summary:
The Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) assists providers and staff by collecting pertinent patient information needed to determine physical and psychological needs. This includes addressing and identifying health problems, performing selected treatments, aiding in diagnostic testing and/or procedures, assisting with non-invasive and invasive surgical procedures, and routine clinical duties. The CSA functions as a member of the healthcare team with responsibilities commensurate with training, scope of practice, and demonstrated competencies. Direct patient care is provided to patients of varying ages.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. | Adheres to BHDMG and BHD policies and procedures. · Maintains appropriate licensure or certification as required for position. · Maintains annual competencies/skills for both medical group and hospital locations as assigned based on job role, scope of practice, and specialty. o BHD responsible for tracking, obtaining, and filing of competency/skill assessments as required per surgical department. o BHDMG responsible for tracking, obtaining, and filing of competency/skill assessments as required per BHDMG as well as any additional department specific requirements. | |
2. | Attends mandatory meetings, in-services, and training courses in accordance with BHDMG and BHD guidelines. | |
3. | Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards, and national patient safety goals as applicable. | |
