WNMS Guidance Counselor

West Noble Middle School is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Middle School Guidance Counselor to support the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. The ideal candidate will foster a safe, inclusive environment, work closely with teachers, administrators, and families, and help students navigate the unique challenges of the middle school years.

Key Responsibilities

• Academic Counseling: Assist students with academic goal setting, course selection, study skills, and strategies to improve academic standing and attendance.
• Social & Emotional Support: Provide short-term individual counseling, small group guidance, and crisis intervention to address behavioral, emotional, or interpersonal challenges.
• Student Advocacy & Collaboration: Partner with parents, guardians, teachers, and administrators to identify student needs, implement interventions, and participate in IEP, 504, or MTSS team meetings.
• Schoolwide Programs: Deliver classroom guidance lessons focusing on social-emotional learning (SEL), anti-bullying, character development, and high school transition planning.
• Community Referral: Connect students and families with external community agencies, mental health providers, and support services as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Master's Degree in School Counseling, Educational Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Certification: Valid State School Counseling Certification / License (K-12 or Secondary Endorsement preferred).
• Skills: Strong communication, active listening, and conflict resolution skills; knowledge of middle school child development and crisis response protocols.
