    Description

    The PE Program Assistant works independently under the general direction of school administrators to coordinate, support, and lead day-to-day physical education activities and program operations. This role requires a self-motivated professional capable of managing groups of students, maintaining facilities and equipment, and independently executing physical education plans provided by school administration to foster a healthy, active, and safe environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Independent Program Execution: Autonomously lead and facilitate physical education lessons, wellness routines, and structured recreational activities following administrative guidelines and curriculum standards.
    • Classroom & Safety Management: Maintain a structured, well-managed environment during PE sessions; enforce safety protocols, positive behavior expectations, and playground/gym rules without needing direct supervision.
    • Student Monitoring & Support: Supervise student participation, encourage sportsmanship, and adapt activities to support students of varying skill levels and physical abilities.
    • Equipment & Logistics Management: Manage gym and outdoor equipment inventory, including setup, teardown, routine maintenance checks, and submitting requests for replacement items to administration.
    • Administrative & Event Coordination: Assist administrators with tracking attendance, maintaining activity logs, and coordinating logistics for school-wide physical events (e.g., Field Day, fitness challenges, or fun runs).
    • Incident Reporting & Communication: Promptly address and document minor behavioral or safety incidents in accordance with school policies, escalating significant matters to building leadership.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Education: Associates Degree, 2 years of college experience, or certification through ParaPathways required (Associate or Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or Sports Management preferred).
    • Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
    • Skills: Strong independence, proactive problem-solving, confident group management, clear communication, and a passion for student health and physical literacy.

    Physical Demands & Working Conditions

    • Active engagement requiring regular standing, walking, bending, demonstrating physical movements, and lifting equipment up to 35 lbs.
    • Ability to manage activities independently in both indoor gymnasium settings and outdoor athletic spaces under varying weather conditions.
