Location: McKinney, TX (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

Available Shifts
  • 1st Shift: Monday–Friday | 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday | 2:30 PM–11:00 PM

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Wiring Assembly Technicians for a contract-to-hire opportunity with one of our valued clients in McKinney, TX. This fully onsite position is ideal for candidates with experience in electrical assembly and manufacturing who enjoy building high-quality electrical control systems in a fast-paced production environment.

The Wiring Assembly Technician is responsible for wiring, assembling, fitting, and mounting electrical components and control equipment, including switchgear, switchboards, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and control panels. The ideal candidate has experience interpreting electrical drawings, working with hand and power tools, and producing quality work while maintaining strict safety, quality, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Assembly
  • Wire and assemble electrical control panels, switchgear, switchboards, and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).
  • Assemble electrical switchboard equipment according to engineering specifications.
  • Install and wire Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and other electrical components.
  • Mount, fit, terminate, and secure electrical components and subassemblies.
  • Perform assembly work using engineering drawings, written work instructions, and verbal direction.

Blueprint & Schematic Interpretation
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Follow engineering specifications to ensure accurate wiring and assembly.
  • Verify component placement and wiring configurations before final assembly.

Quality & Testing
  • Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Test completed assemblies and identify wiring or assembly issues.
  • Troubleshoot and report defects, discrepancies, or quality concerns to supervisors.
  • Maintain the highest standards of workmanship throughout the manufacturing process.

Production Support
  • Complete work assignments accurately while meeting daily production schedules.
  • Communicate material shortages, production delays, equipment issues, or quality concerns promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals and customer deadlines.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working overtime as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety & Housekeeping
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, manufacturing procedures, and quality standards.
  • Properly wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Promote safe work practices at all times.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in electrical assembly, wiring, manufacturing, or industrial production preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience assembling electrical control panels, switchgear, switchboards, or similar industrial electrical equipment is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English to understand work instructions, safety requirements, and production expectations.
  • Willingness to work overtime as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in electrical manufacturing or industrial assembly.
  • Knowledge of electrical control systems and power distribution equipment.
  • Experience using electrical hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Understanding of electrical safety standards, manufacturing best practices, and quality procedures.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive assembly tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
  • Excellent manual dexterity for wiring, terminating, and assembling electrical components.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Ability to distinguish between colored wires, labels, and electrical components.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the workday.

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Candidates must report on their first day wearing approved safety boots that meet the following requirements:
  • Steel toe or composite toe.
  • Must cover the ankle.
  • Leather style (minimum leather upper).

Candidates who do not arrive with the required footwear may not be permitted to begin work.

Additional required PPE may include:
  • Safety glasses.
  • Protective gloves.
  • Hearing protection.
  • Any additional PPE required by company safety policies.
