Position Summary and Special Duties
As a Wire EDM Specialist, you will play a critical role in programming, setting up, and operating wire EDM machines to produce high-precision components. This role requires strong technical ability, experience with solid models, and the capability to inspect your own work to extremely tight tolerances.
Your day-to-day duties will include, but may not be limited to:
- Program, set up, and run wire EDM machines
- Write programs using both 2D drawings and solid part models
- Utilize Esprit software (or equivalent) for programming complex parts
- Hold tolerances to ±0.0002" while inspecting your own completed work
- Perform dimensional inspections using standard precision tools
- Maintain EDM equipment, perform changeovers, and complete general maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot machine or process issues as they arise
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Collaborate with engineering, tooling, and quality teams to ensure precision and consistency
Job Specifications
- Strong experience setting up, programming, and operating wire EDM machines
- Experience with AgieCharmilles equipment is a plus
- Proficiency programming from solid models (Esprit experience preferred)
- Ability to inspect own work to extremely tight tolerances (±0.0002")
- Solid working knowledge of EDM processes and best practices
- Ability to interpret drawings, part models, and precise specifications
- Mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail
