What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Computing Systems Professional 1/2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Computing Systems Professional 1 $72,800 - $115,400
As a CSP1, the successful candidate will support customers and their systems across both unclassified and classified networks by assisting with Windows system administration, participating in routine operational tasks, troubleshooting issues, monitoring systems, and supporting specialized peripherals such as x ray devices. The role includes maintaining professional communication while working directly with customers and stakeholders, as well as helping integrate unconventional devices under tight timelines. A CSP1 should bring a basic understanding of Windows Server or Windows operating system concepts, the ability to follow documented processes while receiving guidance from senior staff, professionalism in both written and verbal communication, and a willingness to learn vulnerability remediation and enterprise security practices.

Computing Systems Professional 2 $87,800 - $143,000
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this As a CSP2, the successful candidate will administer Windows systems across unclassified and classified networks, support specialized peripherals including x ray equipment, and handle routine administration, troubleshooting, and system monitoring with greater independence. They will work directly with customers, technical teams, and stakeholders while maintaining clear, professional communication, and they will be responsible for integrating non standard devices and ensuring reliable operation under tight operational deadlines. A CSP2 should have hands on experience with Windows Server, a working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper V, demonstrated experience managing equipment in alignment with cybersecurity best practices, the ability to collaborate effectively with customers and technical teams, and strong troubleshooting skills with the capability to resolve common server issues.

  • Ability to work professionally with customers, stakeholders, and technical teams.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills with ability to resolve common server issue

Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combinations of education and experience.

Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of four years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Windows system administration experience through coursework, labs, or internships.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks such as STIGs or CIS Benchmarks.
  • Basic understanding of virtualization platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and interest in documentation.
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q-Clearance.

Desired Qualifications for Computing Systems Professional 2:

  • Experience with enterprise management tools (SCCM, Tanium, Ivanti).

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
