Position Summary

The WIC Nutrition Aide supports the nutrition services component of the WIC Program under the supervision of the Program Nutritionist. This role involves direct participant interaction, data entry, and administrative support to ensure high-quality service delivery. This position is 100% grant funded

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and verify participant demographic and eligibility information
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in the CT-WIC system
  • Schedule, reschedule, and follow up on appointments
  • Answer phones and assist with general inquiries and benefit questions
  • Provide basic nutrition education and referrals (non-high-risk participants)
  • Maintain participant records and complete required documentation
  • Assist with nutrition education materials and program activities
  • Collect/update anthropometric and health data as needed
  • Promote breastfeeding and support participant goal setting
  • Coordinate referrals to health and social service programs
  • Provide front desk coverage as needed
  • Participate in required trainings and continuing education

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a CNA or Medical Assistant required
  • Experience in a healthcare or WIC setting preferred

Skills:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism
