Shift: PRN as needed
Responsible for transporting ambulatory and non-ambulatory persons (in wheelchairs) via a wheelchair van. Interact professionally with other healthcare professionals, disabled, disadvantaged, sick and injured persons.

Responsibilities:
- Safely maintain and operate a wheelchair van while in compliance with
all laws and requirements pertaining to the operation of the vehicle and
adheres to safety rules and practices. - Secures all passengers in the van per Hospital Passenger Securement
policy. - Provide door-through-door pick-up and drop-off for all customers.
- Determine and adjust transport routes based on real-time conditions,
patient needs, and scheduling priorities. - Complete daily vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Assists individuals or maneuvers wheelchairs on and off the vehicle.
- Documents required information per transport.
- Adheres to all traffic regulations.
- Ensures that seat belts, hook-ups, and harnesses are in working order
and secure on all mobility devices as appropriate. - Reports any maintenance problems in writing. Keeps vehicle interior
clean. - Reports accidents and incidents in writing as instructed and as
necessary. - Performs other related duties as required
- Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving
to exceed customer expectations.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Iowa D3 Chauffeur License
- BLS (will be obtained during training)
Experience:
- Customer service experience; previous driving experience preferred
Other:
- Local geographical knowledge and ability to operate GPS device
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and assume responsibility for timely completion of assigned functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with people of a diverse professional, educational, and cultural background.
