Qualifications:
- Employment as a teacher preferred, but only required for certain positions.
- Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the tasks listed.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Principal or Athletic Director
Job Goal: To help student athletes focus on and value academics first with athletics second. Each participating student can achieve a high level of skill, and appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
- Works closely with the athletics director in scheduling inter-scholastic contests.
- Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate after inventory and inspection is complete.
- Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
- Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in inter-scholastic competition in his sport.
- Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and established and oversees penalties for breach of standards by individual students.
Terms of Employment: Compensation and duration of coaching season to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
