About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Welding Manufacturing Engineer to join an established automotive manufacturing organization in Lorain, Ohio. This position will focus on welding process development, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and manufacturing engineering support for automotive seat structures and mechanisms.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of welding experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, with strong knowledge of MIG and resistance welding processes

Job Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Lead welding process development and improvement initiatives
Troubleshoot welding processes, equipment, and quality issues
Work with internal teams and suppliers to resolve welding-related problems
Develop and maintain welding standards, procedures, and best practices
Improve welding equipment OEE, productivity, and process efficiency
Support Engineering Changes and new product launches
Develop welding techniques, procedures, and process parameters
Conduct experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, materials, and techniques
Establish welding procedures and specifications for production
Prepare technical reports and documentation
Support 8D, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving activities
Develop and monitor production metrics and productivity improvements
Support IATF 16949 documentation and quality requirements
Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, maintenance, suppliers, and customers

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent education and experience
5+ years of welding experience in automotive manufacturing
Strong knowledge of MIG/GMAW and resistance/spot welding
Experience with welding process development and troubleshooting
Knowledge of welding standards, process parameters, and metal materials
Experience with APQP, PFMEA/FMEA, Control Plans, and quality processes
Knowledge of IATF 16949
Experience with 8D/problem-solving methodologies
CAD experience with the ability to read blueprints and GD&T
Knowledge of Six Sigma and continuous improvement concepts
Familiarity with automotive specifications
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively with production personnel, suppliers, customers, and engineering teams
