Welding Engineer

WELDING ENGINEER NEEDED - BELLEVILLE, MICHIGAN

A Leading Automotive Supplier near Belleville, Michigan needs a Welding Engineer. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.

RESPONSIBILITIES                                   

• Preform, recommend, and develop preventative maintenance procedures for all plant welding equipment including robotic systems.

• Evaluate processes and procedures to maintain or improve weld parameters and weld efficiency

• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility s equipment.

• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service

• Take lead on new job startup and Engineering changes.  This involves all aspects from PPAP run, setting up spare parts inventory, PM program, documentation, and training

• Support new model launches and improvement teams.

• Ensures process capability by setting up preventative maintenance programs.

• Works with Quality and Tooling engineers on FMEA's and control plans.

• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities

• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines

• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust

• Generate process parameter sheets (work standard and weld parameter sheets) for all new incoming programs

• Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Participate in solving chronic process and quality issues. (corrective action, 8D s etc.)

• Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision 

• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas 

• Preform weld inspection methods (cut & etch, ultrasonic and destructive testing)

• Ensure utilization of continuous improvement of current processes.

• Weld power source, wire feeder, torch, and reamer

• Plasma cutting, grinding and rework application

• Weld shielding gas technologies

• Electrical enclosures and power requirements for welding

   

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Previous Welding Engineering Experience in a Manufacturing Plant Setting is Required.

• Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; five years plus related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of Education & Experience.

• Strong Electrical Maintenance Troubleshooting Skills

• Metal Stamping Manufacturing Maintenance Experience is Preferred 

• Technical, hands-on experience in Manual & Automated Welding Processes

• Working knowledge of MIG Welding Processes

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, product design, safety, quality, and workflow

• Excellent "hands-on" Welding & Training Skills

• Knowledge in Robotic Welding and material handling applications

• Knowledge in Robotic Programming - Motoman and Fanuc Robots

• Understanding of electrical/controls circuitry and schematics

• Computer Literacy and good knowledge of Microsoft Office Software

• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Weld Drawings
