Description

Summit Bodyworks, a premier builder of tool trucks, mobile libraries, moving trucks and other specialty vehicles has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Welder. Every truck we build is customized from the chassis up; we build our vehicles to suit the needs and desires of our diverse customer base. As part of our team you will perform metal fabrication and welding functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Construct and manufacture metals parts and products using various welding techniques.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure welds meet specification and standards.
  • Complete understanding of fixture welding and requirements for set-up & changes needed to complete the task.
  • Ability to fabricate any item required to complete an assigned task.
  • Use hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments to complete tasks.
  • Maintain and repair welders and other large tools used in the fabrication department.
  • Full understanding of what material is being welded and identify what weld process will be suitable for part/material.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan and prioritize work assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Frequent mobility and/or sitting, standing, bending or stooping for prolonged/extended periods
  • Requires lifting up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Requires lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
  • Requires working in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires a normal range of hearing and vision
  • Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations
  • Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License and MVR in good standing.
  • Ability to pass structural weld inspection
  • Knowledge of steel and aluminum fabrication techniques
  • Experience in machine operations in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Ability to use various power and hand tools
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass a Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening

JOB DETAILS:

  • Compensation Range: $22.00 - $26.00
  • Bonus Eligibility: No
  • Shift: 4 days a week, 10 hour days
  • Reports To: Production Supervisor
