Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking experienced Welders and Welder/Fitters for a fabrication shop in Mannford, OK. Multiple skill levels are available, with pay based on the candidate's ability to weld, fit, and read blueprints independently.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced MIG and Flux Core Welders, as well as advanced Welder/Fitters who can take a fabrication project from blueprint through fit-up and welding. All candidates must successfully complete a hands-on weld test.
Pay Tiers
Tier 1 Welder | $22.00+/hour
Previous MIG welding experience required
Perform production welding according to specifications
Higher starting pay may be considered based on experience and demonstrated skill
Tier 2 Welder / Fitter | $26.00/hour
Perform required welding processes
Fit and assemble components independently
Accurately measure, position, align, and prepare materials for welding
Strong fabrication and fit-up skills required
Tier 3 Welder / Fitter / Blueprint Reader | $32.00/hour
Weld and fit independently
Read and interpret blueprints proficiently
Perform layout and fabrication according to drawings and specifications
Advanced fabrication experience and minimal supervision required
Required Experience & Skills
Previous MIG welding experience required
Flux Core welding experience required
Ability to successfully complete the required hands-on weld test
Flat and 3G welding experience required
Ability to perform uphill welding when required
Strong attention to detail and weld quality
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced fabrication environment
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Strong commitment to workplace safety
Fitting and blueprint reading abilities required for higher pay tiers
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform MIG and Flux Core welding on fabricated components
Weld in flat and 3G positions according to production requirements
Perform occasional uphill welding as required
Fit, position, align, and tack components based on skill level
Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings for higher-level assignments
Measure and verify components before and during fabrication
Inspect completed welds for quality and workmanship
Identify and correct welding or fit-up concerns as needed
Safely operate welding machines, grinders, and fabrication equipment
Maintain consistent productivity and quality throughout the shift
Follow all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Perform additional welding and fabrication duties as assigned
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete a hands-on weld test consisting of:
1-inch thick plate
3G position
MIG downhill stringer pass
Flux Core uphill fill and cap
Flat and 3G welding skills required
Test performance and demonstrated fabrication ability may help determine the appropriate skill and pay tier.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced MIG and Flux Core welding experience
Structural or heavy fabrication experience
Independent fitting experience
Blueprint and fabrication drawing experience
Layout and measurement skills
Experience working with 1-inch or other heavy plate
Previous experience in a fast-paced fabrication shop
Ability to complete projects with limited supervision
Required Gear
Candidates must provide and wear appropriate work and welding gear, including:
Steel-toe boots
Jeans or appropriate work pants
Welding gear
Additional PPE as required by the facility
Screening Requirements
Background check required
Drug screening required
Some felony convictions may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Medical marijuana card holders are not accepted for this position
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, positioning, and repetitive physical activity
Ability to safely handle fabricated components and welding equipment
Ability to work in multiple welding and fabrication positions
Comfortable working around steel, grinders, welding equipment, heat, sparks, fumes, and industrial machinery
Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication work throughout a 10-hour shift
