    Position Summary

    The Weightlifting Teacher/Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for providing a safe, structured, and engaging strength and conditioning program that supports student health, physical fitness, athletic performance, and lifelong wellness. This individual will work collaboratively with school administrators, coaches, teachers, and student-athletes to develop a culture of discipline, accountability, and excellence while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

    ### Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Plan and deliver daily instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Healthful Living/Weight Training.
    • Develop and implement strength, conditioning, speed, agility, flexibility, and injury-prevention programs for students.
    • Teach proper lifting techniques, equipment use, spotting procedures, and weight room safety protocols.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying fitness levels and abilities.
    • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, lesson plans, and student records.
    • Supervise students before, during, and after class to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
    • Inspect, maintain, and organize all weight room equipment; report repairs or safety concerns promptly.
    • Collaborate with athletic coaches to develop year-round strength and conditioning programs that support all athletic teams.
    • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and personal responsibility.
    • Support school-wide initiatives focused on attendance, academic achievement, and positive school culture.
    • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
    • Assist with supervision duties and other responsibilities assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director.

    ### Qualifications

    • Valid North Carolina Teaching License (or eligible for licensure).
    • Degree in Physical Education, Health, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field preferred.
    • Experience teaching weightlifting, physical education, or strength and conditioning preferred.
    • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (or willingness to obtain).
    • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment to student success and positive relationships.

    ### Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of strength training principles and current conditioning practices.
    • Ability to motivate and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
    • Strong understanding of injury prevention and safe exercise techniques.
    • Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners.
    • Effective technology and data management skills.

    ### Physical Requirements

    • Ability to demonstrate exercises and lifting techniques.
    • Ability to lift, move, and organize fitness equipment.
    • Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise students for extended periods.
