    Position: Weight Training Coach (Adult Programs)

    Department: McFarland Recreation Aquatics & Play (Ice Arena Weight Room)

    Availability Needed: 1 to 2 days per week (during the winter months)

    Shift Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Lunch hours)

    Position Overview:

    Our MRAP Department is seeking an energetic, knowledgeable, and community-minded Weight Training Coach to lead adult fitness instruction. In this role, you will empower participants of all fitness levels to build strength, learn proper technique, and safely achieve their personal wellness goals.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Instruction & Coaching: Design and lead safe, effective weight training sessions tailored to adult participants, ranging from beginners to experienced lifters.
    • Technique & Safety: Demonstrate proper lifting forms, spot participants as needed, and enforce weight room safety rules and equipment etiquette.
    • Community Engagement: Create a welcoming, inclusive, and motivating environment that encourages active participation and builds rapport with community members.
    • Facility Maintenance: Perform routine checks on weight room equipment to ensure it is clean, well-maintained, and operating safely; report any damaged machinery promptly.
    • Administrative & Emergency Readiness: Maintain attendance logs, communicate program schedules or updates to participants, and respond effectively to minor injuries or emergency situations.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Certification: Certified Personal Trainer or Strength & Conditioning Specialist (e.g., NASM, ACE, CSCS, USA Weightlifting) OR willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
    • Experience: Background in athletics, competitive sports, strength coaching, or group fitness instruction required.
    • Safety Credentials: CPR/AED and First Aid certification (training will be provided by the District upon hire).
    • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills with a friendly, patient, and approachable coaching style.
    • Screening: Must successfully pass a background check prior to employment.

    Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

    • Ability to demonstrate weight training exercises, lift/move weight plates and dumbbells up to 45+ lbs, and stand/walk for extended periods.
    • Position involves working indoors at municipal recreation facilities or school district fitness centers.
