ADMINISTRATION Human Resources CITY OF MONROE JOB TITLE: ELECTRICIAN INSTRUMENTATION A JOB CLASS NUMBER: 9125DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS TREATMENT REVISION DA TE: 8.3.2026 DEFINITION/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF JOB: Electrician Instrumentation B will be under direct supervision of the Electrical Instrumentation A as well as the Maintenance Supervisor. Responsible for a wide scope of electrical and maintenance related duties. This position has a day shift schedule but on occasion may be required to work other shifts as needed. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

• Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment pertaining to the operation of the Water Treatment Plant and sub-stations.
• Must be able to read, understand, and draft electrical blueprints, electronics schematics, and use technical manuals in the performance of these duties.
• Must be able to work on Energized Systems, which include (chemical dosage control and measurements, liquid level, flow and pressure measurement, electrical motors, high voltage power distribution systems, alarm system, industrial motor control systems, computer systems, supervisory control and data acquisition systems {SCA DA), telemetering systems and electromechanical systems.
• Work with high voltage electricity.
• Assist in maintenance department as needed, performing maintenance related duties.
• On-Call twenty-four (24) hours per day.
• Require working nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Travel out of town as needed for training, education, and conferences. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Responsible for making frequent inspections of process control instrumentation and electronic equipment.
• Analyzing and investigating causes of instrument failures and irregular operation and recommends corrective measure to improve accuracy and reliability.
• Installing, calibrating, and making necessary repairs to process control computers, filter systems, flow and pressure transmitters, Chlorine, pH, and turbidity monitoring equipment, chemical feed equipment, plant and distribution telemetering equipment, electronic/electrical control circuits, and other complex instrumentation activities utilized in the water treatment process.
• Maintaining SCADA, which includes plant computer system and remote PLCs.
• Monitoring and calibrating instrumentation systems utilizing test and monitoring equipment.
• Conducting routine preventative maintenance task. MINIMUM QUALIFI CATIONS Training and Experience
• Experience in Water Treatment process and controls.
• Equivalent job experience acceptable in J;eu of certification.
• Any Water Treatment related certifications issued by the State of Louisiana. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
• Skills, knowledge, and ability in reading blueprints.
• Skills, knowledge, and ability in wiring diagrams.
• Skills, knowledge, and ability in instrument schematics.
• Ability to work with energized circuits under varying conditions.
• Ability to enter manholes, work at heights, run rigid conduit and follow detailed instructions.
• Be mentally alert, responsible and in good physical condition.
• Ability to communicate effectively with electrical employees. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
• Possess a valid State of Louisiana Drivers License.
• The ability to possess Class IV Water Production, Treatment, and Distribution certifications.
• High School Diploma or a valid General Equivalent Diploma issued by a State Department of Education.
• Certificate or diploma from approved college or trade school in Electronics and Electrical. Actual electronic and electrical experience can be partially substituted for school.
• Will be required to pass each level of certification within two years after acquiring the necessary points. Failure to do so is grounds for dismissal. PROMOTION TRACK TO ELECTRICIAN INSTRUMENTATION A
• At least two years experience in "B position.
• The ability to perform Electrician Instrumentation A job.
• Decision for promotion is at the discretion of supervisor and superintendent.
