As a Water Mitigation Technician, you will play a critical role in helping property owners recover from water damage emergencies.

Job Summary

The Water Mitigation Technician performs hands-on water extraction, structural drying, and damage assessment services at residential and commercial properties. Working under IICRC industry standards, this role involves responding to emergency calls, mitigating water damage, and helping restore properties to pre-loss condition. Both entry-level candidates and experienced technicians are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency water damage calls and assess the extent of damage upon arrival
  • Extract standing water from affected structures using pumps, vacuums, and extraction equipment
  • Set up and monitor drying equipment, including air movers, dehumidifiers, and moisture meters
  • Document moisture readings and job progress accurately using company software or forms
  • Remove and dispose of damaged materials such as flooring, drywall, and insulation as needed
  • Apply antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold growth in affected areas
  • Communicate professionally with customers to explain the mitigation process and set expectations
  • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and job site materials to ensure safe and efficient operations

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call emergency shifts
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Water Mitigation Technician or in a related restoration role
  • IICRC Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certification, or willingness to obtain certification
  • Experience operating extraction equipment, air movers, and dehumidifiers
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials and building structures

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with moisture detection tools such as moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras
  • Understanding of psychrometry and drying principles
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
