Water and Wastewater Operator
Participates in crew activities of skilled or unskilled workers engaged in light construction.
Performs technical work monitoring the water distribution system by means of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisitions (SCADA) system; maintains storage reservoir levels, proper flow, and pressure in the system. Maintains lift stations and small wastewater treatment plants.
The positions essential duties are:
• Participates in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater service lines. • Ensures proper materials and equipment are available for lift and booster stations. • Responds to emergency calls regarding SCADA water line breaks, leaks, or blockages. • Locates and repairs leaks or blockages and flushes out lines. • Cleans out and provides maintenance on pumps, including using a motorized winch to remove pumps from wet wells. • Maintains and monitors odor control systems. • Replaces chlorine booster pumps.
Subject to on-call, which may include SCADA, standby, rotating duty schedule, weekends, and 24-hour emergency call out with little or no notice.
