Description: The Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the wastewater treatment facility. S/he will operate, monitor, maintain, and trouble-shoot the wastewater treatment facility and its processes. This role ensures that all processes are maintained to meet regulatory standards and protect public health and the environment. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm. Every other weekend, Saturday 7a-Noon Pay: Based on experience, typical range $25-30 per hour. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring, and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process, storm water and sludge management.
- Perform the installation, maintenance, and repair of the physical plant and pump stations and all components.
- Assist in the performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and machinery.
- Perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of pump stations.
- Adjust chemical feed systems to maintain proper treatment levels.
- Maintain logs, reports, and regulatory documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.
- Follow all safety and environmental procedures to ensure a safe workplace.
- Maintain open communications regarding the treatment process and pump stations operation and malfunction as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvements to the system.
- Assist with facility housekeeping and grounds maintenance as required.
- Conduct the necessary weekend checks of the treatment plant on a rotating basis.
- Backfill to other positions as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
