    Description

    Wastewater Operator/Technician

    The Wastewater Operator/Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of an industrial wastewater treatment system. This role has primary responsibility for a 14-million-gallon anaerobic digester and supporting treatment processes, including aeration/activated sludge, anoxic treatment, clarifiers, and sludge handling.

    Responsibilities

    • Operate and monitor the anaerobic digester and supporting wastewater treatment processes, including flows, tanks, pressure, levels, temperature, pH, mixing, and biogas systems.
    • Monitor aeration/activated-sludge and anoxic treatment processes, clarifiers, and sludge-handling equipment to maintain effective treatment performance.
    • Collect wastewater samples and perform laboratory testing; use process and laboratory data to identify trends and make appropriate operating adjustments.
    • Inspect, troubleshoot, and monitor pumps, motors, blowers, mixers, valves, piping, instrumentation, and other treatment equipment.
    • Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, lubrication, preventive maintenance, and basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
    • Identify equipment failures and process issues and coordinate with maintenance and electrical personnel when specialized repairs are required.
    • Maintain accurate operating records and follow all environmental, chemical-handling, confined-space, LOTO, electrical, and plant safety requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Prior experience in industrial wastewater operations preferred.
    • Basic electrical experience, including familiarity with 480-volt systems.
    • Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting ability, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work safely around chemicals, industrial equipment, and wastewater treatment processes.
    • Training will be provided on the complete wastewater treatment system.
