Clean Harbors located in Bristol, CT is looking to add a Wastewater Treatment Operator to join the team. The Wastewater Treatment Operator will be responsible for providing operations and maintenance of the wastewater systems using safe operating procedures. 

Shift: Monday-Friday  9am-7pm. OT and weekends as required.

Responsibilities: 
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Collects Water and Wastewater samples by following proper procedures.
  • Inspects and maintains sewage lift-stations and all connecting piping.
  • Repairs and maintains PVC and HDPE exterior utility piping within best practices.
  • Installs and maintains lift stations, piping heat trace and insulation within scope.
  • Performs accurate manual calculations of flow rates, pumping times, chemical pump draw downs, etc. as required.
  • Performs routine lab process tests to optimize both biological and other treatment processes throughout the plant.
  • Accurately records data readings on operations log sheets and computer spread sheets, and assists supervisors with the interpretation of performance data to adjust process control applications.
  • Controls the operation, monitoring, and inspection of process equipment within plants including; pumps and motors, compressors, screens, overhead cranes, membranes, chemical pumps and associated equipment. Ensures process operations are continuously monitored for performance within specifications.
  • Interprets process control data (SCADA) and lab data against performance standards; initiates required adjustments to equipment within the plant to ensure effective and efficient processing and advises supervisor or other operators when conditions within the system warrant.
  • Monitors and records onto daily log sheets unit process metering devices via gauges, computer process control systems, etc. on an ongoing basis. Coordinates process control adjustments in conjunction with the other operators on shift.
  • Maintains data for required reports for internal regulatory agencies, and is accessible for all stakeholders.
  • Trouble shoots operational issues in Water and Wastewater Treatment plants: includes operational, biological, mechanical, instrumentation and primary logic control (PLC) issues.
  • Maintain and stay up to date on changes to best practices, legislation, policies and procedures within the water and wastewater industry;
  • Maintain all certifications and licenses in good standing; notify supervisor when changes occur.
