Description

We are seeking a Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our client’s textile manufacturing team located in Pendleton, SC. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our wastewater treatment and water filtration systems.The successful candidate will spend approximately 65% of their time operating the Wastewater Treatment Plant, 30% at the Water Filter Plant, and 5% supporting the Air Compressor area. Comprehensive training will be provided before the operator assumes full job responsibilities.Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated equipment, including pumps, mixers, clarifiers, tanks, and related systems.
  • Operate and monitor the Water Filter Plant, including the raw creek pump station, coagulators, settling tank, sand filters, and clearwells.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot the air compressor area to ensure reliable operation.
  • Perform wastewater sampling and testing, including TSS, COD, nitrogen, and other required parameters.
  • Collect and ship samples to appropriate laboratories in accordance with permit requirements and company procedures.
  • Conduct routine rounds throughout the Wastewater and Filter Plants, monitoring pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), pump speeds, flow rates, equipment condition, and overall plant operation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of plant rounds, readings, testing, and daily operations.
  • Ensure operations remain compliant with the facility's South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SC DES) NPDES permit.
  • Participate in fire and environmental emergency response activities, including operating or manning fire pumps, assisting with security watches, and responding to spills or other incidents.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall housekeeping throughout the Utilities area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and participate in plant safety programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Current South Carolina Biological Wastewater Operator License — A, B, C, or D.
  • Excellent attendance and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Mobile Equipment License or willingness to obtain training.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Moderate mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License for operation of company vehicles on site.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work safely in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures and instructions.
  • Basic math skills, including algebra, area/volume calculations, unit conversions, and practical problem-solving.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately while managing multiple responsibilities and time-sensitive tasks.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to learn new processes and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Biological Wastewater Operator License at the A or B level.
  • Previous mechanical maintenance or industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge of pumps, pH monitoring, wastewater sampling techniques, chemical feed systems, and laboratory equipment.
  • Previous experience operating or maintaining a biological wastewater treatment system.
Shift: Rotating 12-hour schedule 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM/ 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM. The schedule includes alternating days off, with occasional schedule variations based on business and operational needs. Weekend and holiday availability is required.Pay: $20.75 to $22.00/hour
