Responsible for overseeing the warming houses located at outdoor skating rinks. Responsibilities include opening and closing the warming house, recording attendance, maintaining the facility, monitoring changing winter weather conditions, and providing excellent customer service.

PLEASE NOTE - The City of Farmington is currently conducting a citywide classification and compensation study. This position is posted using the job description and wage range in effect as of the posting date. The City's goal is to implement any resulting classification or compensation adjustments on or around January 1, 2027; however, final timelines are subject to completion of the study and agreement with the applicable labor union. Any updates that occur during the recruitment process or after hiring will be communicated to the selected candidate.

• Ensure the safety of customers using the outdoor skating rinks
• Unlock/lock and turn on/off lights in the warming house according to schedule
• Maintain the interior and exterior of the facility, including picking up trash, sweeping floors, checking restrooms and portable toilets daily, and reporting maintenance issues to the Warming House Supervisor or Recreation Supervisor
• Assist the Recreation Supervisor in keeping the facility and safety equipment in good working order
• Assist young children with skates
• Manage skater conduct and enforce safety rules
• Make decisions to close the warming house if weather conditions change after opening
• Count and record the number of people skating on outdoor rinks
• Shovel rinks when light snowfall occurs
• Remove hockey nets from the rink at the end of the day
• Respond to emergencies as needed
• Display a positive, courteous, and reliable attitude
• Continually update knowledge and skills through required in-service training
• Ability to work independently, including working alone in the facility
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends
• Excellent customer-service skills, including the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Ability to develop positive working relationships and maintain a respectful environment
• Sound judgment and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
