Job Summary

The Warehouse Worker II is an intermediate support role responsible for independently performing warehouse operations such as material handling, picking, packing, staging, and inventory support in accordance with established procedures and safety standards. This role applies working knowledge of warehouse processes, equipment, and documentation to support efficient material flow and operational performance.

Role Overview

The Warehouse Worker II provides hands‑on operational support within a warehouse, distribution center, or storeroom environment. The role emphasizes independent execution of standard tasks, accurate handling of materials, and consistent adherence to operating and safety procedures.

This position typically reports to a Warehouse Supervisor, Distribution Supervisor, Materials Manager, or Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling & Warehouse Operations

Independently perform material handling tasks including picking, packing, staging, loading, and unloading

Move materials, products, or pallets safely within the warehouse

Follow work instructions, priorities, and standard operating procedures

Order Fulfillment & Staging

Accurately pick and prepare materials for production, shipment, or distribution

Verify item numbers, quantities, and packaging

Stage completed orders in designated locations

Equipment Operation

Safely operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, or forklifts (as trained and certified)

Inspect equipment prior to use and report issues

Follow equipment operating and safety guidelines

Inventory Support

Assist with cycle counts, inventory checks, and reconciliation activities

Identify and report inventory discrepancies or damaged materials

Support accurate placement and labeling of materials

Safety & Compliance

Follow all safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements

Apply proper lifting techniques and ergonomic practices

Maintain clean, organized, and hazard‑free work areas

Documentation & Communication

Complete required logs, pick lists, checklists, or transaction records accurately

Communicate material shortages, damages, or delays to supervisors

Participate in shift handovers and team communications

Cross‑Functional & Team Support

Work collaboratively with warehouse clerks, shipping/receiving, and logistics teams

Support workload balancing and operational priorities

Provide informal guidance and support to Warehouse Worker I roles

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve material flow, efficiency, or safety

Participate in continuous improvement or problem‑solving activities

Qualifications

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

Prior experience in warehouse, distribution, or material handling environments preferred

Typically 2-4 years of experience performing warehouse, logistics, or production support work

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling practices

Ability to independently perform standard warehouse tasks

Strong safety awareness and attention to detail

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Physical ability to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods

Basic documentation or system entry skills

Effective communication and teamwork abilities
