This position is responsible for:

Operating a bailer machine, driving Salvation Army vehicles, as well as Loading and unloading trucks, performing lifting of heavy objects on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations.
  • Lifts, carries, loads, and unloads various donations to include furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.
  • Ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.
  • operates a bailer machine to secure, package, and bind large volumes of clothing

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • The working environment is a warehouse without air conditions and with a cement floor where a majority of the day is spent. Temperatures vary from approximately 30 degrees in the winter to 100 degrees in the summer. There is an air-conditioned room in the warehouse for the storage of equipment and office space. Position involves going in and out of the air-conditioned space into the warehouse throughout the day.
  • Ability to lifts scales, hand trucks, forklifts and dollies
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
  • Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations
  • Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking
  • Ability to occasionally lift boxes of donations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required; one (1) year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van such as a box truck; OR
  • any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid State Driver's License required:
  • Approved Background Check and Motor Vehicle Request, required.
