Job Summary

A family-owned, progressive Illinois agribusiness is hiring Warehouse & Production Associates for its Roseville plant. The plant manufactures roughly 40 tons of feed per day: about 70% ships in bulk (delivered by the company fleet or picked up by the customer) and the remainder is bagged on site in 50-lb bags on an automated bagger, which employees manually stack on wood pallets — a primary, labor-intensive duty shared by the whole team at various times. The role spans production and warehouse operations (more time in the warehouse), with cross-training across all areas and daily interaction with the sales team, drivers, and customers. The company competes on stability and a family culture rather than top-of-market pay: consistent hours, no layoffs, no weekends, and overtime that adds real income. They hire for reliability and work ethic first and train the rest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift and pallet jack (training/certification provided if needed).

  • Operate feed equipment — mixers, scales, conveyors, bagging equipment.

  • Operate the automated bagger and manually stack 50-lb bags of finished feed on wood pallets (labor-intensive; performed by all employees at various times).

  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently; inspect the condition of items while loading/unloading.

  • Check and identify numbers and labels on assigned items and materials.

  • Organize and arrange items and materials neatly in the warehouse; maintain good housekeeping.

  • Handle sensitive items and materials carefully.

  • Read work orders and follow oral instructions to determine assignments and material/equipment needs.

  • Operate all equipment and perform all duties safely and efficiently; comply with all company policies and procedures.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • No specific prior experience required — reliability, work ethic, and being a team player matter most; the client will train the rest.

  • Ag / livestock / feed / grain / warehouse experience preferred (unlocks the top of the pay range, up to $18.00/hr).

  • Forklift / pallet-jack experience a plus — training and certification provided.

  • Basic computer and math skills; attention to detail; ability to multi-task.

  • Reliable, stable employment history.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Onsite feed-manufacturing plant. Consistently lift 60 lbs and repeatedly lift and stack 50-lb bags; stand and walk for a 10-hour day. Dusty environment with seasonal weather conditions (heat and cold). Time split between the warehouse and production floor. Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm, with daily overtime over 8 hours; no scheduled weekends.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: up to $17.00/hr; up to $18.00/hr with strong ag / livestock / warehouse experience. Reviewed at 90 days; annual COL + merit adjustments as able (not guaranteed).

  • Overtime: paid on anything over 8 hours in a day (no 40-hour threshold). Most employees earn ~10 OT hours/week. Workload is consistent — the client has never limited hours or had layoffs.

  • Paid time off: 80 hours after 6 months, 160 hours after 1 year, 200 hours after 10 years (combined sick + vacation). Carry over up to 40 hours (max balance 160); unused PTO payout possible with management approval.

  • Health insurance (medical/dental/vision): employee-only — company pays 80%, employee 20%. Family — company pays 20%, employee 80%. Eligible from start; coverage typically begins ~15–35 days after start.

  • Retirement: company matches the first 3% the employee contributes.

  • Pay cycle: bi-monthly (15th and 30th; 24 pay periods/year). Paid clock-in to clock-out with a paid lunch.
