    Summary

    This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD Skillbridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD Skillbridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII.

    Objective

    The Skillbridge intern will train as a Warehouse Operations Manager within the HII Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII supervisor, and will be fully qualified to manage warehouse operations and logistics functions for the Central Inventory Control Point (CICP), including GFE/CFP accountability, ITAR compliance, inventory management systems (ODIN), and COMSEC handling in support of classified mission partner requirements. The intern will be assigned special projects as needed.

    Desired End State (3-4 month target)

    At the end of 3-4 months, the intern learning goals are:

    Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management

    • Objective: Master warehouse operations and government property accountability
    • Execute shipping/receiving, inventory surveys, and reconciliation with proper documentation
    • Utilize ODIN for GFE tracking and process Equipment Utilization/Operational Readiness Reports
    • Manage COMSEC assets, Access Control Inventory Reports, and DRMO turn-ins via ETIDS

    Logistics Support Planning & Documentation

    • Objective: Develop and maintain lifecycle logistics documentation
    • Create/update Logistics Support Plans, SOPs, and identify required support elements
    • Coordinate with developers and Procurement on testing, transition, sustainment, and vendor management
    • Maintain shipping logs and monthly/quarterly activity records

    Customer Support & Team Leadership

    • Objective: Provide customer service and logistics team oversight

    • Build mission partner relationships, resolve issues, and plan shipments to meet timelines

    • Train new logisticians on CICP tasks, asset recognition, and usage

    • Coordinate TDY preparations, inventory transport, and serve as backup CICP Manager

    • HII Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the Skillbridge intern and considers the Skillbridge internship an overall positive experience.

    Assumptions

    • SkillBridge Intern will possess at minimum a Top-Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility with an active CI Polygraph.
    • SkillBridge Intern will be available during core hours for critical meetings and training. No more than 40hrs per week.
    • Skillbridge Intern will not represent HII back to the DoD or Government on behalf of HII.

    Program of Instruction

    Training Location: Fort Meade, MD (on-site)

    Training Plan

    Week 1: Orientation & Facility Familiarization

    • Complete security processing, facility access, and ITAR compliance briefings
    • Tour CICP warehouse and review organizational structure and mission
    • Introduction to ODIN inventory system and warehouse layout

    Week 2: Shipping & Receiving Fundamentals

    • Shadow logistics team on daily shipping/receiving operations
    • Learn proper labeling, visual inspection, and component verification
    • Monitor government shipping sites and email notifications

    Week 3: Inventory Management Systems

    • Hands-on training in ODIN cloud-based system for GFE tracking
    • Review automated and manual accounting records
    • Learn Access Control Inventory Report maintenance

    Week 4: Government Property Accountability

    • Study GFE and CFP accountability procedures
    • Process Equipment Utilization and Operational Readiness Reports
    • Practice inventory survey procedures and discrepancy resolution

    Week 5: COMSEC & Specialized Asset Management

    • Complete COMSEC management training and handling procedures
    • Learn specialized sensor equipment recognition and usage
    • Conduct supervised inventory audits of controlled items

    Week 6: Logistics Documentation & Planning

    • Review existing Logistics Support Plans and SOPs
    • Identify logistic support documentation requirements
    • Assist with monthly/quarterly activity record reconciliation

    Week 7: Transportation & Shipment Coordination

    • Plan and execute routine shipments using FedEx, TMO, and other carriers
    • Maintain Travel and FedEx shipping logs with tracking procedures
    • Coordinate local inventory transport and delivery

    Week 8: Procurement & Vendor Management

    • Work with Procurement team on purchasing actions
    • Run weekly vendor history reports and analyze supply chain performance
    • Learn DoD specifications and guidelines for equipment acquisition

    Week 9: Asset Lifecycle & Disposition

    • Process excess/decommissioned asset turn-ins using ETIDS through DRMO
    • Assist with lifecycle management documentation
    • Participate in fit tests and equipment validation

    Week 10: Customer Relations & Problem Solving

    • Interact with mission partners to complete order requests
    • Coordinate with material developers on logistic support elements
    • Practice communication protocols for time-sensitive requirements

    Week 11: Team Leadership & Training

    • Develop training materials and conduct asset recognition sessions
    • Identify and prepare logistics support for TDY operations
    • Assist CICP Manager with ODIN system improvements

    Week 12: Integration & Independent Operations

    • Perform all CICP Manager duties under supervision
    • Complete end-to-end shipment coordination
    • Final assessment and transition planning for full-time employment

    Milestones:

    • Week 4: Independent shipping/receiving operations
    • Week 8: Solo inventory reconciliation and reporting
    • Week 12: Qualified Warehouse Operations Manager responsibilities

    Minimum Qualifications

    Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service. Applications accepted from transitioning military personnell within final 12 months of active-duty service. Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.

    • Transitioning military member with HS diploma + 14 years OR Bachelors + 10 years OR Masters + 8 years relevant experience
    • 3+ years supply chain/asset management experience
    • Logistics lifecycle management support experience
    • Knowledge of DoD specifications and guidelines
    • MS Office proficiency
    • TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance required

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Familiarity with COMSEC, ETIDS, ODIN, and/or DIAS software
    • Familiarity with FedEx, TMO, LOC, and DCS
    • Special Sensors experience
    • Military logistics experience (Army 92A, Air Force 2G0X1, Navy LS)

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to operate in DOD Joint Operations Center / SCIF environment.
