Job Summary
The Leadperson is responsible for coordinating daily warehouse activities, including order management, inventory allocation, and employee task assignments to ensure efficient workflow and safe operations. This position works closely with the Manager of Plant Operations to maintain productivity, communicate workflow priorities, and provide feedback on operational performance. The Leadperson serves as a working lead who helps bridge communication between employees and management to support overall operational excellence.

Job Function
Essential Job Duties
- Review daily orders, Will Call, and freight across all warehouse bays to plan and assign work.
- Verify manpower levels and allocate employees to appropriate workstations to ensure productivity.
- Distribute material and inventory to warehouse employees for order completion.
- Review and verify inventory and stock levels, resolving discrepancies when necessary.
- Cover work areas during employee absences or early departures to maintain workflow continuity.
- Answer order-related questions, including length-of-cut and piece-weight requirements.
- Load trucks, obtain empty trailers, and document all shipments and loading activities.
- Inspect incoming customer stock and ensure accurate placement in the warehouse.
- Review the warehouse floor regularly to identify old or unshipped orders and take corrective action.
- Monitor material stock and ensure product does not remain in hold areas longer than necessary.
- Operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment to load/unload trucks and move stock safely.
- Support safety compliance by observing employees, correcting unsafe behaviors, and reinforcing safe work practices.
- Observe daily warehouse activities, communicate workflow or performance issues to management, and provide recommendations for improving processes or efficiency.
- Participate in maintaining clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
Non-Essential Job Duties
- Answer phone calls and assist with general inquiries as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support plant operations.

- About 95% of the work shift is spent performing essential duties, with 5% on non-essential duties.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor elements may occur during loading/unloading operations.
Required Skills
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Driver's License preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to direct and train others.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task effectively, and make sound decisions.
- Teamwork and collaboration with supervisors and coworkers.
- Experience in warehousing or material handling is preferred.
- Ability to obtain certification to operate motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
- Clear oral and written communication; legible handwriting.
- Manual dexterity, coordination, and physical fitness to operate heavy equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend work instructions and blueprints.
- Basic math and measurement skills, including fractions and conversions.
