Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting warehouse operations by performing a variety of tasks including loading, unloading, order picking, shipping, and material handling. Ensuring products are accurately prepared for pickup or delivery, secured for transport, and handled in a safe, efficient, and dependable manner. Major focus is equipment inspection and processing through hand-labor.
Responsibilities
  • Loads, unloads, sorts, picks, stocks, stages, and transports materials throughout the warehouse and yard.
  • Prepare items for shipment or customer pickup by securely packaging materials using shrink wrap, strapping, or other protective methods.
  • Verifies product accuracy and condition before staging or shipping.
  • Installs protective devices such as bracing or padding to prevent damage during transport.
  • Operates forklifts or other material handling equipment to move goods safely and efficiently.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Assists customers, installers, or subcontractors by fulfilling orders or locating materials.
  • May drive company vehicles to pick up or deliver materials as needed.
Nature and Scope:
  • Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction.
  • Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor.
  • Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.
  • Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment.
  • Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.
Work Environment:
  • Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment.
  • Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
  • Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience:
  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Basic understanding of shipping, receiving, and material handling procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials.
  • Willingness to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Other abilities include counting, sorting, cleaning, stacking and some use of hand-tools.
  • Ability to identify equipment, read standard/metric tape measures, math skills, reading, & writing skills are also in demand.
  • Main commodities are aluminum beams and steel pipe used in shoring & formwork in the construction industry.
