Job Description
GreenWood, Inc., is interested in talented individuals seeking employment as a Warehouse Associate in a Shipping & Receiving role. The Warehouse Associate performs tasks to ensure accurate and timely transactions by following department processes and procedures to safely operate equipment while handling material (i.e., loading and unloading of material) within a warehouse or storage facility, ensuring compliance within the facility as it relates to quality, productivity, safety, and security.
Responsibilities
- Performs material handling duties and picks tickets to correctly pick and load orders
- Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, pallet jack, hoists, conveyors, or handling equipment to move material to and from delivery transportation vehicles and within warehouse or storage facility
- Ensures duties are performed per documented work instructions to ensure customer requirements are met
- Identifies potential hazards in the workplace and takes action to eliminate/minimize risks to include communicating to management any product availabilty issues
- Promotes safety awareness and immediately reports any unsafe acts, conditions, or unsafe equipment in the facility
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment while ensuring housekeeping duties are completed as required
- Uses proper and appropriate forklift practices to safely, accurately, and efficiently unload material from trailers
- Inspects pallets for proper packaging, stacking, and labeling according to specifications and removes trash, damaged pallets, and cardboard from the production areas as needed
- Transitions with flexibility in the daily work schedule and areas as needed
- Works with other warehouse employees to ensure positive employee relations within the team
- Provides input to Warehouse Coordinator to develop and implement operational procedures
- Performs daily forklift inspections per required criteria
- Maintains functional knowledge of BOLs and receiving processes
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
- Accurately performs responsibilities with a focus on efficiency and quality
- Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after all processes
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 6 months of experience using material handling equipment and driving a forklift in a warehouse function; greater than one year of experience in a material handling role with forklift experience preferred
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the material handling field required; extensive knowledge/experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus on instructions and safety
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong work ethic with proven ability to support a positive team environment
- Ability to complete necessary training and follow safety policies, procedures, and processes
- Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work and sense of urgency
- Ability to further develop computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite, email, and necessary reports
- Ability to hold self accountable for areas of responsibility and for actions
- Willingness and desire to perform responsibilities accurately and efficiently with a high level of customer service
- Ability to work well with all levels of the organization in various areas of responsibility
- Ability to successfully obtain a forklift certification (both written and practical tests)
- Ability and willingness to cross train in other areas for back up coverage as needed
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
