What You'll Do:
The Wardrobe, Props & Puppetry Supervisor is responsible for directing the daily operation of Casa Bonita's Wardrobe, Props and Puppetry Departments. This role exercises independent judgment and discretion in supervising staff, assigning work, establishing departmental priorities, overseeing procurement and inventory management, developing standard operating procedures, ensuring regulatory and safety compliance, and maintaining the artistic and technical standards of all costumes, props and puppetry operations.
The Supervisor directly manages two Wardrobe Assistants. The position is accountable for the wardrobe departments planning, budgeting support, purchasing coordination, vendor relationships, quality assurance and workforce development while also performing advanced technical work involving complex costume construction, engineering, specialty fabrication and technical problem solving that exceeds the scope of subordinate positions.
This position reports to the Director of Entertainment.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Personnel Management (35%) - Directly supervise, coach and develop Wardrobe Assistants.
- Assign daily and weekly work priorities based upon operational needs.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, training and performance feedback.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring recommendations, onboarding and training of new team members.
- Collaborate with Entertainment Leadership and cross-functional teams to support operational needs.
- Recommend disciplinary action, promotions and performance evaluations.
- Approve or recommend scheduling adjustments and staffing priorities.
- Ensure departmental coverage costume for performances, rehearsals and special events.
- Foster a safe, respectful and collaborative work environment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards and applicable labor regulations.
- Procurement, Budget & Vendor Management (15%)
- Lead procurement activities for Entertainment Wardrobe, Props and Puppetry operations.
- Coordinate departmental purchasing requests from initiation through delivery.
- Research vendors, obtain competitive pricing and recommend purchasing decisions.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships.
- Monitor purchase orders, invoices and delivery schedules.
- Ensure inventory levels support uninterrupted operations.
- Assist leadership with budget forecasting and expense tracking.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives while maintaining artistic quality.
Planning, Inventory & Department Operations (20%) - Develop departmental production schedules and work plans.
- Establish priorities for maintenance, fabrication and refurbishment projects.
- Oversee inventory control systems.
- Maintain asset tracking for costumes, props, puppets, fabrics, monthly hygiene supplies, hardware and specialty materials.
- Evaluate equipment replacement needs.
- Coordinate cross-functional projects with Entertainment, Facilities, Tech and Procurement.
- Monitor department productivity and workow.
Department Administration & Documentation (15%) - Develop, implement and continuously improve departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain departmental documentation, records and technical specications.
- Create monthly schedule for wardrobe department.
- Create training materials and operational manuals.
- Ensure compliance with sanitation procedures, PPE requirements and workplace safety standards.
- Maintain inspection and inventory logs and maintenance documentation.
- Prepare operational reports for Entertainment Leadership.
- Develop, and oversee the ongoing compliance with written departmental procedures, onboarding systems, and workflow documentation.
Advanced Technical Leadership (15%) - Perform highly skilled costume construction, pattern drafting, engineering, specialty fabrication and complex repairs.
- Design and construct specialty costumes, props and puppets that require advanced technical expertise.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues affecting production.
- Provide quality assurance for all department work.
- Support specialty builds for costumes, complex repairs for wardrobe, costumes, props and puppetry, and related vendor coordination as needed.
- Establish and maintain standards for costume, wardrobe, props, and puppetry construction, maintenance, and repair.
- Monitor and uphold visual and functional standards across all costumed and interactive roles and elements.
- Mentor staff on advanced repair techniques.
- Evaluate materials and fabrication methods to improve durability, safety and efficiency.
- Serve as the department's technical expert for specialty builds.
Supervisory Responsibilities - This position directly supervises:

Qualications/Skills:
- 4+ years professional wardrobe, costume construction, theatrical production or related experience.
- Minimum 2 years demonstrated supervisory or management experience.
- Advanced knowledge of costume construction, tailoring, textiles and fabrication techniques.
- Experience supervising employees and coordinating multiple projects.
- Demonstrated experience with inventory management and purchasing.
- Strong organizational, communication, cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects, timelines, and priorities.
- Ability to solve problems quickly in a live performance environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Prociency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Preferred: - Entertainment, live theatre or themed entertainment experience.
- Experience managing procurement budgets.
- Knowledge of puppetry construction and prop fabrication.
- OSHA or workplace safety training.
Physical & Environmental Demands: - Able to distinguish colors and see both up close and at a distance.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to walk at least 10,000 steps per shift, including stairs, inclines, and declines.
- Able to pivot, transition between seated and standing positions, kneel, stoop, and lift throughout shifts.
- Able to stand for extended periods and walk briskly throughout the shift.
- Able to work in confined spaces and varying lighting conditions.
- Able to multitask and maintain speed, accuracy, and composure under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant and entertainment venue.
