VTL Machinist

We are seeking an experienced VTL Machinist to join a well established manufacturing company. This position is responsible for setting up and operating vertical turret lathes to machine large, precision components. The ideal candidate will have experience with manual or CNC vertical lathes, large part machining, blueprint reading, and close tolerance work.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate vertical turret lathes and vertical boring mills
- Perform machining operations including turning, boring, facing, and threading
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job specifications
- Select the proper tooling, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for each job
- Inspect completed parts using micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and dial indicators
- Maintain required tolerances and quality standards
- Safely rig, load, and position large components
- Troubleshoot machining issues and perform routine equipment maintenance
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a VTL Machinist or Vertical Boring Mill Operator
- Experience machining large, heavy components
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments
- Knowledge of machining practices, tooling, speeds, and feeds
- Ability to safely handle and rig large parts
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
