ABOUT THE ROLEThis Vice President Trade Finance opportunity is with a global financial institution, offering a senior origination and structuring mandate across unfunded trade finance exposures (primarily Standby Letters of Credit, bank guarantees, and related risk-sharing structures). The role combines client-facing origination with balance sheet optimization, syndication execution, and institutional partnership development. Ideal fit for a seasoned trade finance professional who combines deep SBLC and guarantee structuring expertise with proven syndication capabilities and the ability to expand the institution's distribution platform through correspondent banking and NBFI relationships. The role partners closely with Corporate Banking, Credit, Legal, Treasury, and Risk across multiple geographies in a matrixed environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Originate and execute trade finance transactions for corporate and institutional clients;partner with Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking, and Coverage teams to identify opportunities and deliver tailored trade finance solutions addressing working capital, performance security, and cross-border business requirements
- Structure and execute unfunded SBLC facilities;advise and pitch clients on facility arrangements including risk-sharing structures such as syndicated deals with fronting arrangements, MRPA, and other risk distribution solutions including ESG components
- Work closely with syndication and insurance teams to distribute SBLCs, guarantees, and other unfunded trade finance assets to domestic and international financial institutions and NBFIs
- Develop and maintain a strategic network of correspondent banks, FBOs, regional banks, foreign banks, surety providers, export credit agencies, and institutional investors to support distribution activities;negotiate facility agreements, fronting arrangements, and distribution documentation with partner institutions
- Collaborate with Treasury and Capital Management to optimize off-balance sheet utilization and improve capital efficiency through risk distribution;support RWA management by transferring unfunded exposures while maintaining strong client relationships
- Monitor market pricing, capital requirements, and regulatory developments impacting trade finance distribution;identify market opportunities to optimize distribution capacity, pricing, and execution
- Ensure all transactions comply with the Bank's credit policies, regulatory requirements, sanctions screening, and legal documentation standards;work closely with Credit Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Trade Services throughout transaction structuring and execution
- Monitor portfolio concentrations, counterparty exposures, and distribution limits;support portfolio reporting and ongoing monitoring of distributed transactions
- Contribute to the development of innovative trade finance distribution solutions including fronting programs, unfunded risk participations, portfolio distribution strategies, and structured risk transfer transactions;identify opportunities to broaden the Bank's distribution platform and establish new strategic partnerships
