Job Details
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the position of VP of Environmental Health and Safety. This critical role will oversee the overall management and strategic planning of the company's environmental, health, and safety programs. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards. This position will also play a key role in promoting a culture of safety within the organization and ensuring that all our projects are executed in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs that align with the company's strategic objectives.
2. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, including those from OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies.
3. Lead and manage the EHS team, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure the effective execution of all EHS programs.
4. Develop and implement training programs to increase staff awareness and understanding of EHS issues, regulations, and best practices.
5. Serve as the company's primary liaison with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and other external stakeholders on EHS matters.
6. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, non-compliance issues, and opportunities for improvement.
7. Lead incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
8. Promote a culture of safety within the organization, encouraging all employees to take ownership of their own safety and the safety of others.
9. Work closely with project teams to ensure that all construction projects are executed in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.
10. Continually monitor and analyze EHS performance data, using this information to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior EHS role, preferably within the construction industry.
2. A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
3. CSP, GSP, and MSP credentials required. Experience as a safety consultant is highly desirable.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices, particularly those relevant to the construction industry.
5. Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to lead and manage a team.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
7. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address issues in a timely and effective manner.
8. A proven track record of promoting a culture of safety within an organization.
9. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective EHS training programs.
10. Proficiency in risk management and incident investigation.
11. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
