Title: Senior Credit Risk Manager Commercial Real Estate Lending

Overview:

Our client, an internationally backed commercial bank with a growing New York platform, is seeking a Senior Credit Risk Manager to oversee second-line credit approval and portfolio governance across its regional lending business. This leadership role focuses heavily on local commercial real estate transactions including multifamily, hospitality, construction, and smaller balance income-producing assets. Ideal for a Mandarin-speaking credit professional with strong approval authority experience and a background within relationship-driven banking environments.




Key Responsibilities:
  • Fluent Mandarin required (spoken and written)
  • Lead daily operations of the regional credit team, managing workflow priorities and approval turnaround times
  • Review and challenge credit submissions from underwriting teams, ensuring completeness, sound structure, and policy adherence
  • Provide final recommendations and approval decisions within delegated lending authority guidelines
  • Evaluate smaller-ticket commercial real estate opportunities including residential portfolios, hotel assets, construction loans, and bilateral owner relationships
  • Review third-party reports including appraisals, environmental assessments, and collateral documentation
  • Oversee annual reviews, renewals, modifications, and portfolio monitoring for existing borrowers
  • Manage classified assets, criticized credits, workouts, and recovery strategies in coordination with outside counsel when needed
  • Supervise recurring management reporting for executive leadership and overseas stakeholders
  • Coordinate internal audits, external loan reviews, and regulatory examinations
  • Hire, mentor, and develop junior credit professionals while elevating team standards and training programs
