VP/Director of Acquisitions - Multifamily
Position Overview
An established real estate investment platform is seeking a Director of Acquisitions to help drive the continued growth of its multifamily investment business. This individual will play a key role in evaluating new investment opportunities, leading transaction execution efforts, and partnering with internal teams to support portfolio growth and performance.
The ideal candidate will possess strong financial and analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of multifamily investments, and experience managing transactions from initial underwriting through closing. This role offers exposure to a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment with significant opportunities for professional growth and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead underwriting and financial analysis for prospective multifamily acquisitions, including cash flow modeling, sensitivity analysis, and investment risk evaluation.
- Develop investment memoranda, presentations, and supporting materials for internal approval processes.
- Manage all aspects of transaction due diligence, including coordination of third-party consultants, legal review, and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with brokers, legal counsel, property management teams, consultants, lenders, and other transaction participants throughout the acquisition process.
- Partner with Asset Management and Operations teams to ensure effective transition and execution of business plans following acquisition.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior investment professionals, including review of underwriting assumptions, financial models, and investment recommendations.
- Monitor market conditions, capital markets activity, and competitive trends across target investment markets.
- Assist with strategic initiatives, portfolio growth efforts, and other investment-related projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Business, or a related discipline required.
- 5+ years of experience in real estate acquisitions, investments, or principal-side underwriting.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, including experience evaluating multifamily investment opportunities.
- Proficiency with Excel and Argus Enterprise.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present investment recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking ability, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and transaction workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
