The Allegra School of Music & Arts is seeking a skilled and engaging Private Voice Instructor / Vocal Coach to join our faculty.


An established student roster is available immediately, with the opportunity to take over part or all of an existing teaching schedule. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated voice educator seeking a professional studio environment, consistent student enrollment, and strong administrative support.


For more than 25 years, Allegra has provided high-quality music and performing arts education to students throughout Central New Jersey.

Responsibilities


• Provide high-quality, individualized private voice instruction
• Teach healthy, age-appropriate vocal technique
• Select appropriate repertoire based on student level, interests, and goals
• Develop areas such as breath management, resonance, registration, diction, musicianship, and performance skills
• Monitor student progress and provide clear feedback
• Prepare students for recitals, auditions, competitions, and examinations when appropriate
• Communicate professionally with students, families, and school leadership
• Maintain a reliable, consistent teaching schedule


Qualifications


Candidates should have:


• A degree in Voice Performance, Vocal Pedagogy, Music Education with a vocal concentration, Musical Theatre with significant formal voice training, or a closely related field
• Strong knowledge of healthy vocal technique and vocal development
• Experience teaching private voice lessons
• The ability to work effectively with children, teens, and/or adults
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A professional, dependable, and student-centered approach


Advanced degree work, formal vocal pedagogy training, piano proficiency, and experience in musical theatre, classical voice, contemporary commercial music, or audition preparation are especially valued.


Exceptional candidates without a completed degree may be considered only with substantial formal vocal training, significant pedagogical preparation, and a demonstrated record of successful private voice instruction.


Schedule


Monday–Friday: approximately 3:00–9:00 PM
Saturday: approximately 9:00 AM–2:00 PM


Instructors are not expected to be available every day. We welcome applicants interested in teaching one or two consistent days per week, as well as those interested in developing a larger schedule.


Compensation


$30–$38 per teaching hour, based on education, vocal pedagogy training, teaching experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibilities.


Additional compensated opportunities may be available in musical theatre, group instruction, workshops, accompaniment, and special programs.
