Voice & Data Service Technician DFW, TX

Your Troubleshooting Skills Are What Set You Apart.

Experienced Technicians Wanted | Commercial Service & Structured Cabling

Can you walk into a building, identify a network issue, and figure out how to fix it?

TradeSTAR is looking for an experienced Voice & Data Service Technician for an opportunity with an established commercial low-voltage contractor serving the Dallas Fort Worth area.

This isn't your typical cable installation position. We're looking for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, solving technical problems, and taking ownership of service calls.

From tracking down connectivity issues to repairing fiber and copper infrastructure, you'll be the technician customers rely on when something isn't working.

If you're confident in your skills, comfortable working independently, and ready for a position that challenges your technical abilities, we want to hear from you!

    The Opportunity

Join an established provider of commercial structured cabling, fiber optics, and low-voltage technology solutions with more than 35 years of industry experience.

You'll support commercial customers throughout DFW, performing service, maintenance, repairs, and modifications to existing network infrastructure.

Projects include offices, commercial buildings, and active healthcare facilities. Experience working in hospitals, following infection-control procedures, or using dust containment carts is a strong plus.

    What You'll Be Doing

    • Troubleshoot and repair commercial voice and data cabling systems.

    • Identify and resolve network connectivity and cabling issues.

    • Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) in occupied facilities.

    • Install, terminate, test, and repair Cat6 and Cat6A cabling.

    • Troubleshoot, terminate, and repair fiber optic connections.

    • Test and certify copper and fiber using professional testing equipment.

    • Trace cables, identify faults, and troubleshoot patch panels, jacks, and connections.

    • Work inside MDFs, IDFs, telecommunications rooms, and network closets.

    • Read blueprints, floor plans, and technical documentation.

    • Communicate directly with customers, IT departments, and facility personnel.

    • Document service calls, repairs, testing results, and completed work.

    • Manage daily service assignments with minimal supervision.

    • Follow safety and infection-control requirements when working in healthcare facilities.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

We're looking for someone who knows more than how to install cable. You understand how structured cabling systems work and have the experience to diagnose problems when they don't.

    Ideal qualifications include:

    • 3+ years of commercial voice/data or structured cabling experience preferred.

    • Previous service technician or troubleshooting experience.

    • Strong knowledge of Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.

    • Experience with copper and fiber termination, testing, and repair.

    • Familiarity with cable testers, certification equipment, and troubleshooting tools.

    • Experience performing MAC work and servicing existing installations.

    • Ability to troubleshoot cabling issues in MDF/IDF environments.

    • Basic understanding of IP networking and connectivity.

    • Ability to read prints and technical documentation.

    • Strong customer-service and communication skills.

    • Comfortable working independently and making decisions in the field.

    • Basic computer skills for electronic service documentation.

    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Bonus: Experience working in hospitals or healthcare environments, including infection-control procedures and dust containment equipment.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

Your experience deserves more than repetitive installation work.

This position offers the opportunity to put your technical knowledge to use, work through different challenges, and build your career with an established industry provider.

    Benefits include:

    • Competitive Pay Based on Experience

    • Medical, Dental, Vision & Life Insurance

    • 401(k) with Company Match

    • Auto & Phone Allowance / Reimbursement

    • Bonus Program

    • Ongoing Training & Career Advancement Opportunities

    • Long-Term Career Opportunity

Are You the Technician Who Figures It Out?

Some technicians wait for instructions. Others know how to assess the problem, test the system, and find the solution.

We're looking for the second kind.

If you're experienced in commercial structured cabling, enjoy troubleshooting, and take pride in solving problems the right way, TradeSTAR would like to speak with you.
