Description

A health services organization in New York City is seeking a Vocational Specialist in Brooklyn, NY to provide field-based vocational support to individuals served by an ACT team. This role focuses on helping clients build employment readiness, develop resumes, and pursue education or vocational goals while coordinating closely with a multidisciplinary care team.

About the Opportunity:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 9am to 5pm
  • Setting: In-person

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct vocational support to clients served by the ACT team.
  • Assist with job readiness coaching, resume development, and vocational planning.
  • Support clients in exploring interests, education options, and employment goals.
  • Participate in daily team meetings, field-based outreach, and care coordination.
  • Complete documentation, progress notes, and service planning in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in human services, including clinical experience in crisis assessment and treatment
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field
  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders
  • Strong vocational assessment and job preparation skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage responsibilities in a field-based setting

Desired Skills:

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Bilingual
  • Experience working in an ACT setting
  • Knowledge of work incentives and government benefits such as SSI, SSDI, Ticket to Work, PASS Plans, or ACCESS-VR
  • Experience with motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and recovery-oriented care
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Zoom, or Webex
