TITLE: VMWare PowerFlex Engineer
DURATION: 4-5 months contract with a possible extension
JOB DESCRIPTION:We are seeking a highly skilled VMWare Engineer to support the deployment and operational readiness of PowerFlex storage systems and ESXi hosts across enterprise data centers.
Key Responsibilities
ESXi Host Deployment & Configuration
- Build and configure ESXi hosts using compliance-approved baseline images and validated hardware compatibility lists (HCL).
- Ensure BIOS/firmware validation and tagging in vCenter with appropriate annotations.
- Manage patching and upgrades, including remediation of legacy drivers and multi-image conflicts.
PowerFlex Storage Integration
- Collaborate with Dell and internal teams to deploy PowerFlex compute and storage racks, ensuring proper cabling, switch configuration, and management handoff.
- Support network planning and execution for 40 Gb connections across Border Leaf and Compute Access switches.
Operational Management & Compliance
- Maintain centralized tracking of build artifacts and migrations using Power BI reporting tools.
- Participate in weekly build status calls and maintain SharePoint updates for leadership visibility.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with infrastructure, network, and compliance teams to ensure seamless deployments.
- Document build procedures, patching steps, and troubleshooting guides for internal knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi (7.x to 8.x), NSX, and HCX.
- Experience with Dell VxRail and PowerFlex systems.
- Strong understanding of PCI compliance and segmentation policies.
- Ability to manage large-scale enterprise environments with 1,000+ hosts.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
