VISTA Leader-Capacity Building & Community Engagement Coord

The National Coalition for the Homeless seeks a VISTA Leader for Capacity Building & Community Engagement in Washington, D.C. to guide and support our VISTA team in connecting local networks to national policy actions. You will coordinate and mentor VISTA members as they expand the Bring America Home NOW Initiative, ensuring they have the leadership, resources, and project management support needed to effectively address homelessness and poverty at 5 NCH field offices. Applicants must have completed one full year of AmeriCorps or Peace Corps service. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Mentorship: Support, mentor, and coordinate NCH VISTA members. Guide them through project milestones, professional development, and navigating their service year. Resource Coordination: Oversee the team's creation of Action Toolkits and digital hubs. Help members translate complex housing policies into accessible public flyers and guides. Strategic Outreach & Research: Assist the team in tracking municipal housing trends and producing policy briefs. Coordinate member outreach to shelters, food banks, and leaders with lived experience. Capacity Tracking: Help members monitor toolkit usage, webinar performance, and community engagement metrics to evaluate and scale campaign impact. Qualifications AmeriCorps/Peace Corps Alum: Required. Must have successfully completed at least one full term of full-time service with AmeriCorps VISTA, State/National, or Peace Corps. Leader & Communicator: Proven skills in team coordination, project management, and relationship building. Digital & Content Strategy: Experience with design tools (Canva/Adobe) and managing professional social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, X) to guide member outputs. Strong Writer: Capable of writing and editing clear, impactful communications for officials and community members. Member Duties : The VISTA Leader Volunteer will support NCH Field offices and Guide VISTA Volunteers in building the organizational infrastructure, volunteer networks, and grassroots communications capacity for the Bring America Home NOW (BAHN) Initiative. By formalizing community partnerships and empowering individuals with lived experiences of homelessness, this project creates sustainable community resources to address the root causes of poverty, including housing, healthcare, and economic injustice. Support NCH Field Offices and VISTA Volunteers in Building a Grassroots Partnership Network. Guide VISTA Volunteers at NCH Field Offices strengthen Lived-Experience Speaker Bureaus. Train VISTA Volunteers in coordination with NCH Field Offices to Boost Digital Engagement & Assist NCH Field Offices to propel the Bring America Home NOW Awareness Strategies.
