DATA CENTER PROJECT MANAGER Carter Machinery Company, Inc
- $90,000–$105,000 Per Year
| Location | Houston, TX (Remote) |
MasTec's MES segment (Power Delivery / CE&I) is scaling rapidly into large, discrete capital projects including hyperscaler/data-center work but is using Vista by Viewpoint (recently migrated to Vista Cloud) at a fraction of its capability. The team needs an experienced Vista consultant to assess current usage of the Job Cost, Job Billing, and Project Management modules, design and configure a job-cost-driven setup appropriate for large capital projects, and train a small internal team to run it with light ongoing support afterward. This is a hands-on configuration and advisory role, not a system implementation from scratch: MasTec has been live on Vista for ~5 years and understands the platform generally, but has essentially never used the job cost / PM modules.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct discovery with finance, project controls, and PM stakeholders to document current Vista usage and identify gaps against MasTec's target processes for large capital project accounting.
Assess and reconfigure Vista's Job Cost, Job Billing, and PM modules to support job-based (rather than legacy service-management) workflows.
Design cost structures that support forward-looking projections and estimates-to-complete, not just historical job cost including data structured to flow cleanly into MasTec's Qlik reporting environment.
Advise on work breakdown structures, contract/billing setup, change order processing, and estimate-to-complete tracking for large, multi-hundred-million-dollar projects.
Produce a scoped roadmap/estimate (following initial discovery) that MasTec's finance leadership can prioritize against.
Train a limited internal user group (~20 people) on the redesigned Vista job cost workflows.
Provide ongoing technical support after go-live as MasTec's usage matures (T&M basis).
Work within MasTec's existing Vista Cloud environment; be mindful that any process changes should reasonably ease a future Oracle Fusion data conversion.
Required Qualifications
Strong hands-on expertise with Vista by Viewpoint, specifically the Job Cost, Job Billing, and Project Management modules (Vista Cloud experience a plus).
Demonstrated experience configuring job cost / project accounting structures for large, complex capital projects (construction, utility, infrastructure, or similar project-based industries).
Experience with work breakdown structures, contract and billing setup, change orders, and estimates-to-complete / cost-to-complete reporting.
Ability to work independently in a T&M advisory model assessing a mature-but-underutilized system and recommending pragmatic, prioritized next steps rather than a ground-up implementation.
Strong stakeholder-facing communication skills; comfortable running discovery interviews and delivering findings/roadmaps to finance leadership.
Experience training end users and documenting new workflows.
