St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida, invites applications for a full-time visiting faculty position in Mathematics for Spring 2027. This is a one-semester appointment, with the possibility of consideration for a continuing full-time position beginning Fall 2027.
We are seeking a dependable, student-focused faculty member who is comfortable teaching a range of undergraduate mathematics courses. The primary responsibility of this position is teaching and supporting student success.
Responsibilities:
- Teach a full-time undergraduate mathematics course load.
- Teach courses that may include College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, and Statistics, depending on departmental needs.
- Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students.
- Work collaboratively with mathematics faculty on common course materials, assessments, and student success initiatives.
- Participate in departmental activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics or statistics.
- Ability to teach undergraduate Statistics is required.
- Ability to teach College Algebra and other introductory mathematics courses.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to teaching and supporting students with a wide range of mathematical preparation.
- College-level teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience with Canvas, ALEKS, or similar instructional technology is helpful but not required.
- Candidates with a Ph.D. may be considered at the Visiting Assistant Professor level.
