The Hurley School of Music at Centenary College of Louisiana invites applications for a visiting assistant professor or tenure-track position at the assistant professor of music rank beginning August 2026. We seek an artist-teacher with a terminal degree in music with a specialty in piano.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of excellence in performing a strong commitment to student-centered pedagogy and skills to recruit and mentor a culturally diverse body of students.
This role includes teaching major and non-major applied piano, collaborative piano, piano pedagogy, and piano literature on a rotational schedule, accompanying as needed, and may also include first- and second-semester theory courses, music history, music appreciation, and other general music or interdisciplinary courses.
As the primary full-time piano faculty member, the successful candidate will also manage accompanist assignments for various vocal and instrumental students as needed. The position also provides the opportunity to develop courses tailored to the candidates interests, which may include immersive study abroad.
Centenary fosters a collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching environment and encourages faculty to contribute to integrative coursework and scholarship that spans traditional academic boundaries.
