Description

The Springfield College Department of Education invites applications for a full-time visiting faculty position for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will contribute primarily to undergraduate and graduate coursework in special education and inclusive education and may also teach related courses across the department's educator preparation programs.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in special education, experience working with teacher candidates and/or practicing educators, experience teaching in the college classroom, and possess strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Experience with early childhood education, elementary education, literacy, inclusive education, or clinical supervision is also desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to preparing educators to serve diverse learners and communities through equitable, culturally and linguistically sustaining, and evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include a 12-credit teaching load each semester, supporting academic advising, participation in department meetings, and other service appropriate to a full-time visiting faculty member.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

  • Master's degree in special education, education, or a closely related field;

  • At least one year of college-level teaching experience (part-time or full-time);

  • Significant professional experience in PK-12 education;

  • Experience teaching or supporting learners with disabilities.

  • Ability to teach across undergraduate and graduate programs;

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The position is expected to include courses such as Foundations of Inclusive Education, Methods in Special Education, Exceptional Learners, and related graduate coursework, with assignments adjusted based on departmental needs.
