Job Title Visiting Assistant Professor, Catholic Theology/Moral Theology Rank Assistant Professor Tenure Information Tenure Track Summary
The Department of Theology & Religious Studies at John Carroll University invites applications for the full-time position of Visiting Assistant Professor in Catholic theology or Catholic moral theology. This is a one-year appointment, renewable up to three years, with the first term to begin in August 2027. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose work explores the intersection of theology, social ethics, and culture; and is sensitive to the global, ecumenical, and contextually diverse nature of theology today.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching, commitment to high-impact pedagogies, and the ability to offer a wide range of courses in contemporary Catholic theology and/or Catholic moral theology that support JCU's core curriculum, the Theology & Religious Studies major/minor, and master's programs in theological education and pastoral ministry. Since this position provides courses within the interdisciplinary Catholic Studies minor, experience engaging the Catholic Intellectual Tradition more broadly is required.

Normal Work Location, Hours and Conditions
University core business hours are generally 8:30 am - 5 pm. However, this position may require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on department operations.
