COUNTY OF BUCKS\n \nJOB TITLE:\n \nVictim Witness Assistant I\n \nJOB CODE:\n \n0355\n \nDEPARTMENT:\n \nDistrict Attorney\n \nUNION: \n \n00\n \nFLSA STATUS:\n \nNon-Exempt \n \nGRADE:\n \nPOSITION SUMMARY: \n \nPerforms a variety of job tasks related to supporting victims of crime by providing opportunities for them to be included in the criminal justice process and advocating for the enforcement of their rights.\n \nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\n Responsible for handling criminal case files at various stages of completeness. \n Ensuring all victims /witnesses are identified and provided with basic notification forms and orientation of the criminal justice systems. \n Responsible for all Early Termination Notices to victims and Assistant/Deputy District Attorneys (as required by Act 44)\n Responsible for all State Parole Notifications to victims and Assistant/Deputy District Attorneys.\n Provide court accompaniment when needed. \n Screening of all restitution forms for accuracy/completeness and contacting victims as necessary to obtain required documentation and/or clarification.\n Must meet all required clearances for employment (i.e. Act 34 \u2013 Criminal History, Act 33 \u2013 Child Abuse)\n Must be willing to attend and successfully complete all training required by P.C.C.D.\n Ensuring that restitution paperwork is placed in the case file or given to the assigned attorney in a timely manner, prior to disposition of the case. \n Sending disposition letters and restitution information to victims when restitution is ordered.\n Responsible for return mail, updating victim contact database information and remailing notices.\n Works under the mentorship / direction of the Victim Witness Assistant II. \n Other duties may be assigned.\n \nQUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:\n \nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
