This position will function as the primary crime victim assistance point of contact for the Community Services Division of the Bridgeport Police Department. The incumbent will report directly to the Division's O.I.C. and maintain liaison with the Mayor's O ffice, as directed, in furtherance of the City's Crime Reduction/Victim Assistance Program Grant from the State of Connecticut. MINIM UM QUALI FICATIONS, TR AINING AND EXPER IENCE • A Bachelor's degree in a social science, human services, or criminal jus tice. A Master's degree in ref erence d disciplines preferred. • At least three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience is required . JOB DESCRIPTION: Victim Assistance Coordinat or 2 KNOWLEDGE, S KILLS AND ABILITIES • Knowledge of Grants Management and Project C oordinat ion with public and pr ivate sector entities is essenti al. • Must be able to interact professionally and communi cate effective ly with individuals at all levels of government as well as the public. • Must be proficient in a variety o f comput er software a pplicatio ns: Mic rosoft Word, Excel and other Office applications as necessary . • Abili ty to conceptualize and conduct indepen dent projects for start to finish is required. • Strong customer ser vice s kills and a commitment to public ser vice. • Excellen t written and ver bal communication skills. • Appropriate combinations of education and e xperience will be con sidered.
