Position: Vice President for University Advancement Division: University Advancement Salary: $100,000 - $115,000 FLSA Classification: Salaried, Exempt Type/Duration: Full Time/12 months Position Schedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday (Evenings and weekends required; Travel required) GENERAL SUMMARY AND SCOPE OF UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT AT VOORHEES UNIVERSITY The Division of University Advancement, led by the Vice President for University Advancement, is responsible for advancing the mission, visibility, and long-term sustainability of Voorhees University through comprehensive fundraising, alumni engagement, strategic communications, marketing, and external relations. The Vice President is expected to provide strategic leadership, foster a culture of philanthropy, and ensure measurable outcomes aligned with institutional priorities. The Division will operate with the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and collaboration, delivering data-informed strategies, effective stewardship of donors and partners, and clear, consistent communications that strengthen constituent trust and support ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Vice President for University Advancement serves as the University's chief advancement officer and is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and execution of all advancement initiatives. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide visionary and results-driven leadership for fundraising, alumni relations, communications, marketing, and external relations in alignment with the University's mission and strategic plan. Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual giving, major and planned gifts, corporate and foundation relations, and capital campaigns. Serve as a principal ambassador for the University, cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors, alumni, foundations, corporations, community partners, and other key constituents. Partner closely with the President, Board of Trustees, and senior leadership to advance philanthropic priorities and support institutional sustainability. Work collaboratively with the Chair of the University Advancement Committee, appointed by the Chair of the Board of Trustees. Lead, mentor, and evaluate advancement staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence. Oversee advancement operations, including goal setting, performance metrics, budgeting, compliance, and reporting. Provide clear, consistent, and strategic internal and external communications that enhance the University's brand, reputation, and visibility. Guide alumni engagement strategies that strengthen lifelong relationships and increase alumni participation, giving, and advocacy. Utilize data and analytics to inform decision-making, assess effectiveness, and continuously improve advancement outcomes. Ensure ethical fundraising practices, responsible stewardship of resources, and adherence to all applicable policies, standards, and regulations. Support and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion through inclusive engagement strategies and equitable access to philanthropic opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned by the President in support of the University's mission and institutional priorities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE An earned terminal degree from an accredited institution preferred, master's degree considered. At least five years of experience in positions of leadership that include a focus on philanthropy and giving. Experience successfully supervising and managing personnel. A record of successful program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Demonstrated record of successfully planning and executing activities to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for students, faculty members, and staff members. Demonstrated commitment to shared governance. Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support philanthropy and giving efforts. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment PHYSICAL DEMANDS Standard Office Environment. Track record of successful grant raising and scholarship in higher education. Previous experience working in a liberal arts environment and demonstrated leadership in education. Possess strong public speaking, small group communication, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with the broader higher education landscape, preferably of the four-year residential institution. COMPENSATION The Vice President for University Advancement, a member of the President's Executive Cabinet is a full-time, executive-level position with a base salary ranging from $100,000 to $115,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus a comprehensive fringe benefits package. The position also includes relocation reimbursement up to $6,000, campus-provided housing at no cost, and meals in University Dining at no cost. In addition, the role is eligible for a Merit Bonus, which is distinct from and does not increase base salary and is awarded based on pre-established performance goals and overall institutional success. The position is also eligible for a Performance Bonus, which blends institutional objectives (e.g., fundraising performance, donor retention, etc.) with individual key performance indicators (KPIs), including major gift closure, alumni engagement, etc. tied to achieving base, stretch, and overall success targets.
