Vice President of Preconstruction & Estimating

Heavy Civil Construction | Phoenix, Arizona (On-Site)

We're partnering with a well-established, employee-owned heavy civil contractor in the Phoenix area that's entering its next phase of growth.

This isn't a traditional estimating leadership position.

We're looking for a senior construction executive who can build and lead a centralized preconstruction organization while driving financial performance across multiple business units. This role will have executive-level visibility, report directly to the COO, and play a major role in improving profitability across the organization. The company is targeting significant growth over the next several years and wants someone who enjoys building systems, developing leaders, and creating long-term operational improvements—not simply maintaining what's already in place.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Lead enterprise-wide preconstruction and estimating.
• Standardize estimating processes across multiple operating divisions.
• Improve estimate accuracy and estimate-to-actual performance.
• Partner with Operations and Finance to improve profitability.
• Build and mentor estimating and operational leaders.
• Provide executive oversight of multiple internal business units with full P&L accountability.
• Develop scalable systems and processes to support continued company growth.

Ideal Background

We're targeting someone who currently serves as a:

• VP of Preconstruction
• VP of Estimating
• Director of Preconstruction
• Director of Estimating
• Chief Estimator
• Regional Preconstruction Leader

You should have experience in:

• Heavy Civil Construction
• Asphalt / Paving
• Highway & Roadway
• Infrastructure
• Airport / Aviation (preferred but not required)

We're much more interested in someone who's built or transformed an estimating function than someone who has simply managed one.

Compensation & Benefits

$185,000 Base Salary

Total Compensation: $200K+
